Where to Have High Tea in Byron Bay

Where to Have High Tea in Byron Bay

The British tradition of high tea is alive and well in Byron Bay. High tea these days often means a group of ladies gathering to enjoy tea and a variety of treats, sandwiches and other delicious eats, but many guys also enjoy it too. If you and whoever you’re on holiday with, whether they are male or female, like the idea of spending an afternoon on your holiday sampling yummy food and sipping tea with lots of time to chat, then look over these high tea options.

Victoria’s at Ewingsdale

Just 6 km west of Byron Bay, Victoria’s at Ewingsdale immediately gives the feeling of where one might imagine high tea should take place. The elegant country manor sits on 4 acres  with amazing views of not only the ocean but also the rural surroundings.

Guests who come for this lovely British tradition will have their pick of a selection of savoury and sweet treats, “including dainty finger sandwiches and freshly baked scones, all served on tiered platters, along with English bone china and vintage tea cups.”

In order to take part in a high tea, you’ll need to contact Victoria’s for a reservation where you can learn more about pricing and view a menu. (Check out this package if you have a minimum of 15 people, where you’ll pay $89 per person for a high tea.)

If you prefer to set up the high tea for your group at a location of your choosing, then you contact the High Tea Ladies, who bring everything you need.

If you’d like it to come to your holiday accommodation, then this mobile tea service will stay, serve the gourmet food and drinks and clean up before they leave, so all you have to do is enjoy the fun event. You could rent a facility or even pick a fun outdoor location if you want.

Once you get in touch with High Tea Ladies, you’ll need to pick a high tea package, which vary in price depending on the amount of food you want and number of people. Every package includes delivery, set up, linen, silverware, fine china and table centres in addition to the food and tea.

You will be served a combination of ribbon sandwiches; scones, jam and cream; a savoury item and at least two sweet treats as well as a choice of two hot teas. Prices run from $26 to $50 per person, depending on the package.
